Where and how to dispose a used water fountain decor?

August 8, 2010 - 4:35 pm 1 Comment

We are redecorating a small section of our front yard where an old white water fountain decor (classical angel looking type) stood. We want to remove the piece but we don’t know how to dispose it or if any donation center will take it. It’s very heavy.

You could try listing it on craigslist.

Where can I find a picture of the wedding decor in the movie Harold and Kumar 2 Escape from Guantanamo?

August 6, 2010 - 1:47 pm 1 Comment

I absolutely LOVED the wedding decorations in the wedding ceremony at the end of the movie, Harold and Kumar 2 Escape from Guantanamo Bay. I can’t find a picture of the scene anywhere. Anyone know where I can find a picture of the decor? All I remember is a lot of white, crystals, and soft pink colors.

I have looked on about 20 websites trying to find this for you but cannot; I would rent the movie and play it on your computer (if you can) to try to capture your own still photographs. I wish there was a better way, but if there is one, I haven’t been able to find it. Good luck!

Where can I find a supplier or wholesaler who sales event decor such as linens, chair covers, draping fabric?

August 6, 2010 - 1:47 pm 3 Comments

I’ve searched the internet and just can’t seem to find anything at wholesale. There are plenty of businesses out there that offer excellent event decor, but where do they actually purchase the decor from? I’ve emailed a few of them but all have refused to tell me where they make their purchases. If you could help, I greatly appreciate it!

Contact trade associations or to get offers from suppliers and manufacturers of event decor products, send an email with your requirement to buy@epog.org

websites to help me with decor and paint color?

August 6, 2010 - 2:58 am 4 Comments

moving on the 1st and I’m looking for decor ideas.. what are some good websites?

For paint colors, my favorite online visualizer is Sherwin Williams. The photos an paint colors look realistic, you can view their whole color palette all at once, but best of all – it suggests coordinating colors at the bottom of the page:

For decorating ideas, my favorite site for ideas is HGTV. Just start clicking:

For furniture, my favorite site is Home Decorators Collection. They have everything in every conceivable color, size & shape. I especially love their selection of rugs and custom framed artwork:

Where can I buy cheap but nice decor online?

August 5, 2010 - 9:04 pm 3 Comments

I want some unique decor for my asian inspired and themed apartment and was wondering where I could find some affortable stuff online.

You can try this popular site or if you have a Bombay Company store nearby. They no longer sell on line. You could also do a search for Asian inspired decor and browse for something within your budget. Home Goods and Marshall’s has some nice things also. Even Target. It depends on what you are looking for.

Which room decor do you match the hall to?

August 5, 2010 - 5:37 pm 9 Comments

My husband and I just bought a new house and are in a dispute over the decor. Should The hall match the Living room or the Bathroom? Both open to a long hall which leads to the front door. I know it sounds petty but it’s a long hallway and it ‘s the first thing people see. What do you think?Any tips or advice would be helpfull.

Match the living room, No if and or buts about it.

Interior decor with swords without looking tacky?

August 5, 2010 - 5:07 pm 5 Comments

I have a bunch of swords and I was hoping to use them for interior decor. I have seen people hanging swords on walls and it looks just tacky and awful. The worst are when people put samurai swords upside down on cheaply made stands.

Any ideas how to use swords for interior decor in a tasteful manner?

Any one have pictures where swords can be hung and blend with decor instead of stick out like ‘I shop at QVC’ ?

thanks.

Very tricky. There’s definitely more ways to go tacky, like using one of those racks or something. Whether its swords, dolls or spoons, collections tend to look tacky the more you have. The big key is in the editting. Don’t try to display them all, just find no more than 3 of your favourites that work together. If you like, you can change them up every few months so that they all eventually get displayed. You could put them in a shadow box, or simply put a splash of paint colour behind them to frame them on the wall where they hang. You might be able to find or make a large enough coffee table with display box to house a couple — a subtle conversation piece that would be. Lastly you could choose to compliment one sword with another relic of that era so it becomes a period piece (like a costume, shield, banner or coat of arms). I’ve included a couple of examples to get your creative juices flowing!
