If you live in a house with little or no interior decoration?

August 15, 2010 - 1:23 am 3 Comments

like completely white walls, little or no art…. is it b/c you don’t want to decorate, are stuck and have no ideas/inspiration or simply don’t have the money to do what you want in your home? just wondering… kinda bored. thanks :)

Maybe because the person living there is only going to be there a little while, and it’s not worth the effort. Maybe they’re lazy. accupril generic Or uninspired. Or depressed. Or it’s a rental and the landlord has weird rules about hanging ANYTHING on the walls. (I’ve seen some pretty uptight leases).

Architecture , Interior design or both ??

August 6, 2010 - 1:32 pm 5 Comments

i know that ARCHITECTURE is creating the exterior structure of a building (the outside), and the INTERIOR DESIGN is the decoration of a building (the inside)..
but is there some branch that combines between the two of them at the same time..Studying the exterior and the interior design of homes..??
iF it exists what’s its name..?? In which College ..??

You’re lucky because there is a middle road for your dilema called ‘Interior Architecture’. Its fairly recent and not available at most universities (I think they started offering such courses in the early 1980s).

This combines the study of architecture and interior design. It main purpose is to allow you to redevelop existing buildings to allow for different functions. For example, converting a hospital into a school or offices into apartments and so on. But you will learn to design a building from scratch and deal with the details of interior spaces including all its aspects.

By studying Interior Architecture you learn architectural courses such as Construction methods, materials of construction, structures, history of architecture, professional practice, environmental control systems …etc. as well as interior design courses such as furniture and style, lighting, theories of design…etc. These would naturally be combined with CAD and presentation technique courses and various others that I can’t remember at the moment.

Its worth taking a look at the individual courses in each programme you find and maybe even talk to a member of faculty. One important thing to consider is what you want to do once you graduate. Ask about accreditation and whether or not the programme is approved by the AIA (if you’re in the states) or RIBA (if you’re in the UK) or for that matter any architectural body that accredits and whose approval you need to practice. The same goes for interior design bodies.

I don’t know in which country you intend to study but just to give you an idea, there is a course at Ohio university http://www.ohiou.edu/design/main.html

MOBILE HOME DECORATIONS: Which looks the best? PINK PLASTIC FLAMINGOS or COLORFUL PLASTIC FLOWERS?

August 6, 2010 - 1:16 pm 8 Comments

My interior decorator, Mr. Bruce, is on vacation in Arkansas-the entire clan is coming over for the big party! Eula-Jean is promising
to wait until marriage before she has sex, and the family is smoking
a ham in honor of her pledge! I need suggestions on how to decorate my single-wide—-I have a limit of $15.00 to shop either at
Walmart or K-mart….maybe even the Dollar Store! I can sure use your advise…Gay men especially (they are SO GOOD at doing that
sort of thing!) We All Thank You!!!

You get ten points for the best question!

P.S. I don’t believe Eula-Jean has the will-power to wait, remember she is already 13!

We just bought a home and I wanted to know some good websites that help me with decorating it.?

I may have a talent here and there, but interior decoration is NOT one of them! I am the worst with the tackiest taste yet I want my house to look nice (at a reasonable price) Does anyone have any ideas for living room, hallway, bedroom (two babies), master bedroom, and walls in all of the rooms. Some thigns I like: modern things so although I was once into the Victorian style now I can’t stand it. Weird. I know that I am not offering many details, but I don’t know which to offer….umm.. it’s a three story house. 1st story has living room, kitchen, half-bath 2nd story has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, 3rd story has a study and a half-bath. Budget:… have no clue, but whatever is reasonable for a couple that makes okay money.

My multicultural story about being cared for in a muslim home? Need more ideas?

August 6, 2010 - 1:08 pm 1 Comment

im writing about a girl who’s being cared for by muslim caregivers. what asp[ects of multiculturalism can i add to it (eg the climax, conlicts) what the girl discovers?

also, what decorations do muslim people normally use to decorate the interior and exterior of their homes during eid ul fitr?

during eid, muslims generally hang lights on their houses and many people have beautiful decorations and such saying "happy eid" and "eid mubarak". the lady of the house makes a lot of food for all the family and friends who stop by. muslims go to each other’s houses, after the eid prayers, and greet each other. it is polite to eat at the person’s house you are a guest in. everyone is dressed up in their nicest clothes and the kids are happy to get some money from the adults (also known as ‘eidi’ in urdu and some other languages) and friends and families exchange gifts with each other.

well here are some Muslim practices that make them unique:

-women should be veiled (wear a head scarf) in public (but Islam says that they should not be forced into it and it should be a personal decision, not even the parents can force a girl to wear it)

-women should display modesty in public

-muslims dont eat pork, anything with pork/pig-derived ingredients

-muslims are not allowed to have any alcohol/drugs

-muslims pray 5 times a day

-it is mandatory for adult males to go to the mosque for friday prayers

-muslims fast during the holy month of Ramadan

-after Ramadan, eid ul-fitr is celebrated

-there is also another holiday, eid-ul-adha, where muslims sacrifice and animal and keep 1/3 of the meat, give 1/3 to other relatives and friends, and distribute 1/3 among the poor

-and many more

you can find out more from websites by using a search engine; here are a couple: www.islamicity.com and whyislam.org

i hope i helped! you can get ideas for your story from these customs. i hope i get to read your story once it’s complete!

Ornate vintage classic european home decorations in Melbourne?

August 6, 2010 - 1:07 pm 2 Comments

I’m searching for a birthday present for my mom. We’re moving house so I think a nice piece of decoration will be perfect.

I’m thinking of something like candy box, candle holder, potpourri holder, or other ornaments.

What should I search for in search engines? And the worst part is, I don’t know what my house interior design style is called. We’ll decorate the new house with the same style.

It’s European, classic, we have metal filigrees, simple and plain stony items (the ones with carvings and a light white+orange-ish hue) and stuffs. You know, the grand, classic type.

what should I get her? And when can I find a decent furniture / decorations store in Melbourne?

Please help me. I’m stressed out!

This website has some lovely candles and other gifts.
