Do they all rip you off or is there some good ones out there that take care of you when you need it
OH, there’s a few good ones out there, the problem is, most insurance companies won’t put more than one or two rentals (single family home rentals) on an account with one primary homeowners. And most won’t do stand alone rentals. And if you tell the company it’s NOT a rental, and it is, or it’s NOT vacant, and it is, well, they’re going to deny your claim – aka, "rip you off".
Rentals are the insurance dregs of the world – very high claims. High wear and tear, and landlords tend to not maintain them that well. Then the landlords want the insruance companies to pay maintenance (like that new roof it needed 5 years ago) and wear and tear – neither of which is covered.
You need to find a local, independent agent who is willing to write this. If you have more than 4 or 5 properties, or if your rentals are more than three families, you need a commercial policy.
Any body out there from FL and know how I can look to see annual home rentals on the islands? I tried Ft Myers News press online but they did not have any Island rentals. any help would be great thanks.
