Music From Guys & Dolls (Arthur Fiedler – Boston Pops)
& Begin The Beguine (Cole Porter – Mantovani Orchestra)
Lyrics From Guys & Dolls:
1) I’ve never been in love before
Now all at once it’s you
It’s you forever more.
I’ve never been in love before
I thought my heart was safe
I thought I knew the score
But this is wine that’s all too strange and strong
I’m full of foolish song
And out my song must pour
So please forgive this helpless haze I’m in
I’ve really never been
In love before.
I’ve never been in love before
Now all at once it’s you
It’s you forever more.
I’ve never been in love before
I thought my heart was safe
I thought I knew the score
But this is wine that’s all too strange and strong
I’m full of foolish song
And out my song must pour
So please forgive this helpless haze I’m in
I’ve really never been
In love before.
2) For I’ve imagined every bit of him
To the strong moral fiber to the wisdom in his head
To the home-y aroma of his pipe
You have wished yourself a Scarsdale Galahad
The breakfast-eating, Brooks-brothers type.
Yes, and I shall meet him when the time is right.
SKY. (spoken) You’ve got the guy all figured out.
SARAH (spoken) I have.
SKY (spoken) Including what he smokes. All figured out, huh?
SARAH (spoken) All figured out.
I’ll know when my love comes along
I won’t take a change.
I’ll know he’ll be just what I need
Not some fly-by-night Broadway romance.
And you’ll know at a glance by the two-pair of pants.
I’ll know by the calm steady voice
Those feet on the ground.
I’ll know as I run to his arms
That at last I’ve come home safe and sound.
Until then, I shall wait.
Until then, I’ll be strong.
Oh, I’ll know, when my love comes along.
SKY. (spoken) No, no, no! You are talking about love! You can’t dope it like that. What
are you picking, a guy or a horse?
SARAH (spoken) I wouldn’t expect a gambler to understand.
SKY (spoken) Would you like to hear how a gambler feels about the big heart throb?
SARAH (spoken) No!
SKY (spoken) Well, I’ll tell you.
Mine will come as a surprise to me.
Mine I lead to chance and chemistry.
SARAH (spoken) Chemistry?
SKY (spoken) Yeah, chemistry.
Suddenly I’ll know when my love comes along
I’ll know then and there
I’ll know at the sight of her face
How I care, how I care, how I care
And I’ll stop. And I’ll stare.
And I’ll know long before we can speak
I’ll know in my heart.
I’ll know and I won’t ever ask
Am I right, am I wise, am I smart.
And I’ll stop. And I’ll stare.
At that face. In the throng.
Yes, I’ll know when my love comes along
I’ll know
When my love comes along.
I’ll know. I won’t take a chance.
I know he’ll be just what I need
Not some fly-by-night Broadway romance.
Until then, I shall wait.
And till then, I’ll be strong.
Oh, I’ll know when my love comes along.
Begin The Beguine Lyrics:
When they begin
the beguine
it brings back the sound
of music so tender
it brings back a night
of tropical splendor
it brings back a memory of green
I’m with you once more
under the stars
and down by the shore
an orchestras playing
and even the palms
seem to be swaying
when they begin
the beguine
to live it again
is past all endeavor
except when that tune
clutches my heart
and there we are swearing to love forever
and promising never
never to part
a moments divine
what rapture serene
to clouds came along
to disperse the joys we had tasted
and now when I hear people curse the chance that was wasted
I know but too well what they mean
so dont let them begin the beguine
let the love that was once a fire
remain an ember
let it sleep like the dead desire I only remember
when they begin the beguine
oh yes let them begin the beguine
make them play
til the stars that were there before
return above you
till you whisper to me
once more darling I love you
and we suddenly know what heaven we’re in
when they begin
the beguine.
Cole Porter’s “Begin The Beguine” is said by music critics to be one of the most technically perfect songs ever written!

Keep your possessions safe from thieves with these tips.
To complete this How-To you will need:
Motion detector lights
Locks
A locksmith
A security alarm system
A safety deposit box or home safe
An engraving pen
A trusted neighbor
Bolts or wooden dowels (optional)
Step 1: Eliminate burglar hiding places
Clear bushes and shrubs near your house, except for those with thorns. Install motion detector lighting near doors and windows.
Step 2: Secure all locks
Secure locks on windows and doors. Hire a locksmith to install additional locks on windows and deadbolt locks on doors.
Tip: Eliminate outside hinges on doors to reduce ease of entry for burglars. Place bolts or wooden dowels in the tracks of exterior sliding doors.
Step 3: Install security alarm system
Install a security alarm system.
Step 4: Secure valuables
Secure valuables by renting a bank safety deposit box or installing a quality home safe.
Step 5: Mark valuables with engraving pen
Mark valuables with an engraving pen. Use a unique and safe identifier like a driver’s license number.
Step 6: Ask trusted neighbor for help
When you’re out of town ask a neighbor to pick up mail and newspapers; shovel snow or mow grass; and put garbage cans out and back in on collection day.
Tip: Give a neighbor or family member the house key. Do not hide the key outside the home.
Step 7: Take common sense precautions
Don’t tell strangers about your daily routines or valuables in your home. Position all valuables away from windows.

Put yourself in the shoes of a burglar so you can anticipate where they’d look for your valuables.
To complete this How-To you will need:
A home safe
An empty cereal box
Step 1: Understand the burglar’s motivation
Understand that the burglar has two goals: to find your valuables, and to get in and out of your house as fast as possible.
Step 2: Practice diversion with cash
Leave a small amount of cash in an obvious spot, so burglars think they’ve found all the cash in your house and won’t bother looking for more.
Step 3: Hide money and valuables
Spread out your valuables and money. Hide some in messy areas that would take a burglar too long to go through, such as a child’s room, basement, or garage.
Tip: Don’t hide valuables in obvious places like drawers or purses.
Step 4: Divert the burglar
Make a diversion box with an ordinary item, such as a cereal box. Store valuables in the box.
Step 5: Use a home safe
Store extra-valuable items in a home safe bolted to the floor.
Step 6: Inventory your stuff
Keep track of the valuables in your house in case you are the victim of burglary. But hopefully, you’ll outsmart the burglar by staying one step ahead of them.
