How to clean the interior of a microwave oven?

August 7, 2010 - 2:18 pm 10 Comments

I occasionally cook curries in the microwave and they leave oil stains. Is there a safe way of removing the grease from the interior of the microwave oven?

put a bowl of water in your micorwave and heat it up for a minute or two so it can get warm and moist in there. then take a washcloth with warm soapy water on it and clean away! Or you can get like a mulit-purpose cleaner – but be careful read the labels because some of the products may to toxic…i would stick with my first suggestion!

HAPPY CLEANING AND GOOD LUCK!

Is black on black interior in a luxury car more luxurious than beige leather with wood grain?

August 6, 2010 - 2:58 am 1 Comment

I am planning to buy a nice luxury car. Problem is the middle model has a variety of different leather colors and accent finishes; but the top model (pricier model) was made with only black leather with black/gray marble-looking accents. This makes me believe that people believe a black on black interior to be more luxurious than a colored one.

I know it is up to my personal preference but I wanted to get opinions because I can go either way. Thanks.

How to Fibreglass the interior of a wooden sub box?

August 5, 2010 - 3:31 pm 2 Comments

I have a medium sized sub box for 2×12 inch subs. Its a bit loose when the bass starts pumping.
Can anyone tell me what materials I would need, and how to fiberglass the interior?
Just for strengthening the box.
Thanks!

Make sure everything is secured with at least 2" wood screws, (NEVER USE NAILS) and like the other guys said, get some caulk from the hardware store and run a bead on every seam on the inside of the box to make it air tight.

Fiberglass is a terrible idea. First and foremost, fiberglass really isn’t as strong as wood, unless you use a ton of it. The reason that most pro audio uses fiberglass is because it is moldable into unique shapes, and of the moldable materials it is the best solution. Besides that it is extremely messy and difficult to work with.

Can I use Interior Alkyd Enamel paint as a primer for an Interior Acrylic Latex paint?

August 5, 2010 - 3:08 pm 3 Comments

I want to paint over some ugly wallpaper in my sunroom and decided that I should probably prime with white. The wallpaper is light anyways, but then, so is my colour I’ve chosen to paint.
SO: to be on the safe side I’m going to paint the walls white first. I found a can of Interior Alkyd Enamel (semi-gloss finish) white paint. Can I paint this on first, then go over with my new can of (coloured) Interior Acrylic Latex (eggshell finish)???
I’m not looking to enter any decorating contests, so it doesn’t need to be GORGEOUS! I just want it to look decent-to-nice.
ideas? opinions?

Hi. No you can’t use the Alkyd enamel as a primer. It is an oil based paint & you cannot paint latex over it. The paint would just peel off. Primer isn’t expensive and if you go to your local hardware store explain to them what you want to paint & they will get you the best one for your project. You can use oil over latex but not the other way around. You could also just put 2 or 3 coats of the paint you have over the wallpaper. If you ever plan on taking the wallpaper off I recommend you doing it before you paint as you will never get it off later. Good luck

How to remove grease stains from car interior?

August 5, 2010 - 3:08 pm 2 Comments

I had my oil changed and the attendant smeared grease on the beige cloth interior of my car. I used a stain remover (Turtle Wax Oxy Interior 1) but the largest & darkest spot of the stain is still there. Is there anything I can do/use to get the grease out? Brand new car!

Ok For grease stains on upholstery or on the fabric on the interior of a car or on carpet in a house. Use ether, starting fluid spray on then blot up with paper towel. Starting fluid can be purchased at most any automotive supply store.

Can I sand my interior plastic of my truck to return to the original color?

August 5, 2010 - 1:24 pm 1 Comment

I painted the interior plastic of my truck a while back using the proper method for painting plastic (although painting plastic usually ends up being a pain). Its chipped in a few places and I Would like to return to the original color. It seems reasonable that if i sand enough, itll go back the the origianl color and i can then smooth it out and gloss it. I’m just making sure this is actually possible to do?

yes.
it will be exactly like before…
Make sure you prep it properly and it should turn out right.
You might want to call up your local car paints store and check what vinyl paint they recommend.
I hope this helps mate.
Also make sure you do sand all of the paint off so when you do scratch a piece the matching color shows through
P.S keep a can reserved for normal wear and tear.
Hope this helps mate
