Only For People Who Know About Interior Decorating?

August 6, 2010 - 1:01 pm 6 Comments

ive been studying fashion design and love it soo much i want to make my own lable etc…

but i recently came across a interior deco course i might do,
i love designing things would this be worth looking into for me?

and is it hard ?
i would be doing the course at home

to tell you honestly…. fashion designing and interior designing are totally different…. one thing is only the same…. you will need lots of imagination and creativity.

interior deco design is a lot different since you have to take note of different aspects rather than just the design itself.

to give an example…. if you’ll be given a task to decorate an empty room… you’ll have to take note of the following:

1) dimensions of the room
2) after designing the room how many will be the regular occupant of the room
3) will the room size be able to accomodate all the designs that you’ll put in there together with what the room will actually contain (e.g. appliances, furnitures, etc.)
4) will your design comply with the room’s ventilation?
5) if the room is located on a building other than the ground floor will it be able to hold the weight of your design??

here’s quick tip…. both fashion designing and interior designing is good and all i can say to you is…. GOOD LUCK!!!

What are some really cool interior decorating themes that’s actually functional?

Not looking for something that’s going to be an eyesore in a year. Looking for a theme/motif that is peaceful, makes you feel at home, but has a bit of edginess to it.

We’re in the process of buying a new home and I want to get started on the whole theme of our home. Should each room have its own theme. Central theme throughout the home? Feng Shui? HELP?

I’d be careful about "theme-ing" a whole house… if you get tired of it, you’ve got to redecorate everything. That being said, there’s a lot that can be done along the lines of a "nautical" theme. Literally, think lots and lots of storage, like on boats – every square inch has a practical use. Figuratively, there’s tons of directions you could take the design: think beach (from the more woodsy, lakeside and coastal retreats of Maine to fresh, sunny tropical islands), think cottage style (everything from Florida, to Cape Cod, to the more streamlined West Coast style). Don’t forget Mediterranean, Moroccan, Indian…

Click the above website to see pictures of home interior. My husband and I are traditionalists, but we don’t mind a little color. Ultimately, we would like to create a homey atmosphere.

Any and all ideas welcome! Thanks, everyone!

Beautiful trim work..Looks like whoever painted loved color..
In your Kitchen I think staying with a dusty blue green would be beautiful..or even a very sagey green..and try those sueded paints..they are going to look soft and muted in there..and you could definitely use some richness with the white trim and light maple cabinets..
In your Dining room try something a little different maybe a barn red or burgundy..or this finish called venetian plaster..it looks so rich and even though it can be tedious it has a look of soft stone when done..(look it up on the web..)
in you other rooms i would tone it down with softer golds or greens..or even taupe looks very good with white..

they are on the right track with the colors they just went a little to bright with the tones ..with white you need to balance it out..
