How can I make sure my tennis game stays intact while on vacation?

August 12, 2010 - 2:21 am 4 Comments

I’ll be going on vacation soon, and I know for a fact that while on vacation I most certainly will not be having time to find a court and play some tennis. I genuinely care about keeping my tennis game intact though – from past experiences, vacation can do horrible things to my tennis game… What can I do this time during vacation, without a court or racket, to ensure that my tennis game will stay, for the most part, untouched from a weeklong off-the-courts vacation?

Visualization. Spend a couple minutes each day playing out points in your head. Really focus on the feeling of hitting the ball via your mind. Also do some exercise. Keep your reflexes sharp.

What is the best vacation spot in Hawaii for someone who is only mildly fond of beaches?

August 7, 2010 - 4:46 am 2 Comments

I am not anti-beach, but beach activity alone does not make a vacation for me. What are your favorite areas of Hawaii other than the beach? I would be up for urban pursuits, wildlife viewing, or anything unique and fun.

I would say either Oahu or the Big Island. Actually, there are lots of non-beach things to do on any of the islands, but Maui & Kauai are more beach oriented.

On the Big Island there is the Volcano National Park – lots to do & see there. There are some nice waterfalls just outside of Hilo & there is the Waipio Valley.

Oahu has tons of stuff to do. We have a decent zoo,an aquarium, lots of historical places like Iolani Palace & Pearl Harbor, several museums (art, natural history, missionary period), a symphony orchestra, art on the fence (local artists display their work for sale outside the zoo on the weekends), & a small but interesting Chinatown.

All of the islands have good hiking, Maui & Kauai have zip-lining. If you come between December & March, a whale watching cruise is a must. Every island has beautiful sightseeing, like the road to Hana on Maui or the Waimea Canyon on Kauai.

Have a great vacation & don’t forget your sunscreen!

Where can I find a Universal Orlando vacation package with airfare, tickets and hotel?

August 6, 2010 - 2:00 pm 2 Comments

I want to find a vacation package that includes the airfare, tickets, and hotel. I have been relentlessly searching online but to no avail. I find a flight and hotel but no tickets or tickets and hotel but no flight. Please help! This is my first time planning a vacation. It is for two adults.

I am looking for a website or phone number.

Thank you so much!

Hi,

You can try a site which is quiet useful as I have tried them once. They provide hotels at very good and economical rates. Well check them out if that helps you….

Where can a paralyzed person go on vacation that is wheelchair accessable? What about going to Egypt?

August 6, 2010 - 1:51 pm 3 Comments

My good friend wants to travel to Egypt and see the paramids… I would like to take him there but I don’t know how accessible that would be for an electric wheelchair?

I would also like to know if there are other nice places to take someone on vacation who uses a wheel chair? Money is not really a problem. Can someone give us some ideas? My friend has only been paralyzed for a 2 yrs and this would be a first vacation we would take together…

Thank you!

What are some vacation spots for a muslim family with teens in the USA?

August 6, 2010 - 1:51 pm 1 Comment

Hi, as summer rapidly approaches our family would like to take a vacation. Our family has children of ages 11, 14, and 18. We can’t participate in water activities (water parks and pools) because of relgious clothing restrictions, but we are open to many things. What are some interesting areas we could visit? Hopefully there are some fun activities around as well as interesting sights to see.

That’s tough, the USA is so hot in summer most anywhere you don’t want to be in lots of clothes. Perhaps you should head up to New England. Lots of pretty places in the Berkshires to visit, Cape Cod has great beaches and isn’t too hot, Boston is a fascinating city, Maine and Vermont are charmingly rustic. There will be lots of summer camps as well you can maybe offload the kids on. Another thought is New York City – you can’t get bored there. In the area the kids might like Six Flags in NJ and the Science Museum just across in Jersey City, or take a road trip up the Hudson valley. Get’s pretty hot in summer though. Finally San Francisco has a pleasant climate, not too hot, and has loads of things to see and do in the area – take a road trip down Route 1 to Carmel or up to Seattle, or visit the Lake Tahoe area.

When can you start using your vacation days in the Navy?

August 6, 2010 - 1:45 pm 5 Comments

I’m not sure if this is 100% right. But I’ve heard that the Navy gives you 30 vacation days. When can you start using them? Can you use them as you please? Can you take multiple vacation days in a row? Or do you have to spread them out?

you earn leave at the rate of 2.5 days per month. you may not take leave while in a training status. once you arrive at your first duty station that command will have it’s own regulations about when and how much leave you can take. most limit it to no more than 2 weeks at a time.

and each command has limits as to how many can be on leave at the same time.

How to reimburse/count the unused vacation time into cash?

August 6, 2010 - 1:45 pm 2 Comments

Let’s say if I have 2 weeks vacation each year but I didn’t have chance to use it due to the boss’ demand. Do I count it as 10 pay days or 14 pay days?

I’ve worked for the company for almost 6 years, is 2-week vacation time a little bit less than other people who have the same working years?

I would say that it depends on the company

What are good vacation places in Michigan during the winter?

August 6, 2010 - 1:45 pm 3 Comments

I want to take my family on a small weekend vacation but don’t know where to go during the winter. I don’t want to do any skiing or anything like that because I have a 3 month old that will be going. Anyone have any ideas? I thought about Frankenmuth and Birchrun because I have never been there but from the websites they seem like they would be better during summer.

Frankenmuth is very fun in the summer, but there are things to do in the winter too. Go to Zhender’s Splash Village Indoor Waterpark. It has 2 big waterslides, a lazy river, lots of kiddie stuff, an arcade, a restraunt, and a regular indoor pool apart from the waterpark. It is really fun for little kids. There is also Bronner’s Christmas store that you can go to.
