This home is ideal for large families, writers, artists, or for corporate executive entertaining (just a short ride by horse and carriage from the airstrip where private planes can easily land).

Accessible by a 15-minute ferry or plane ride from the mainland (Mackinaw City or St. Ignace, MI), Mackinac Island, Michigan is a singularly unique destination. Since the early 1900′s cars have been banned on this tiny island only 8 ½ miles in circumference. With its Victorian homes and old west main street, the goal here is to stop time in it’s tracks. This is a true horse community – every service on the island is handled by horse and carriage. Want to go into town? Call a horse taxi and a team of horses pulling a yellow carriage will pull up to your home or hotel. Or bike into town — this is a bikers paradise with no cars — just miles of beautiful road with scenic Lake Huron always at your side. You can bike on smooth paved streets around the island or in the interior (on gravel or paved roads) in a way that’s impossible virtually anywhere else in the world due to the lack of car traffic on this paradise of an island.

We invite you to stay at our ‘Casa De Palmas’ home located in Fish Bay, St. John. Just 10 minutes from the main ferry dock in Cruz Bay, this private home is private with no neighbors. Most of Fish Bay is occupied by the private owners. They live here for the peace and tranquility of the bay, away from the hustle of the town. The views and ocean breezes are spectacular.

Your private pool and deck await you on the side of the mountain overlooking Fish Bay in this 2 story home. Central air-conditioning, plenty of space, full kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 2 baths in this lower unit, makes this a great location for kids or multiple couples. You will have everything you need from linens to cooking ware.

You can take a night cap on the deck with a sunset, & wake up to the warm Caribbean breezes.

Usually your day is spent out and about, hitting the world famous beaches, diving, snorkeling, shopping or dining. This home offers a great launching pad to come and go each day for your adventures.

There are beaches near by, far away from the crowds where you can snorkel and lounge around. Our winding rounds are great for walking or aggressive runs. In the years of being here, I’ve not run into tourists out here. This is quiet living.

I really enjoyed our stay at Casa Del Palmas when we were there the week of January 11, 2010. I found the overall experience of getting there fairly easy from arrival at the airport to arrival at the house.
After landing at the airport, you can get transportation to the ferry at Red Hook to take you over to St. John with the option of renting a vehicle on St. Thomas or St. John. Remember to pick up groceries and refreshments before going to the house.
The house is a nice quiet getaway, overlooking Fish Bay. It is well-kept and stocked with all household essentials for your stay. The deck, pool, barbeque grill and view are all there for your enjoyment. We really enjoyed our week there and would do it again. There is plenty to do on the island – enjoy. John.
